Dream

Hey Shelby,
Did you know that J---- likes M----- and M likes ------ and S---- like T---- but B got mad at R____ and …… Sound familiar? Or do you and your friends say “going with” although you aren’t really going anywhere? Girls seem to like to imagine a boy friend/girlfriend situation because that is what you see in the teenagers around you and all those teenage TV shows. I hope you just enjoy your girl friends and try to tolerate the boys acting like boys before you get into the boyfriend complications. However, in your mind, in your intentions, I hope you are forming in your heart the kind of guy you want to spend time with during your dating years and will eventually marry. Again we are going to think Mary and Joseph.
Mary was engaged to Joseph when the angel told her she was going to have a baby and Joseph would not be the father and she was NOT married. So she had some problems. Joseph was a boy (man) who knew the law of Moses and he knew (thought he knew) there was no way that a girl could be having a baby unless she had been with a man. He had no choice but believe that Mary had been unfaithful to him. But look what a wonderful man he was. He did not want to cause her public disgrace so he was to going to put her away PRIVATELY. Back in those days an engagement was like a contract and he would have had to “divorce” her even thought they had never been together as man and wife. Under the law of Moses, he should not have married her because it seemed that she had been involved in sin, yet he did not chose to shame her.

Then comes the angel in the dream and everything changed for Joseph. The angel explained that Mary was a pure girl…she had not been unfaithful to Joseph…the baby she had within her was NOT from any man BUT FROM GOD!!! I had never happened before and will never happen again. Joseph believed God’s message and took Mary and took care of her as his wife and raised Jesus as his adopted son. What a man! You see God now only chose Mary, he also chose Joseph.
So when you are dreaming of your future romance, fill you dreams with a guy who will obey God when it is easy and when it is not. A girl and guy who love God will obey him and treat one another in a righteous way. You can have loads of fun with your girl and guy friends and stay within God’s way.

Matthew 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

Perhaps you will pray, “Dear Father, Thank you for taking care of Joseph and Mary. I pray that my friends will also obey you.”
